  • The Department of Pediatric Dentistry will provide oral health education and distribute materials from NSU Health's pediatric dentistry clinics.

​

  • The Faculty Practice Dental Clinic will share information about the unique customer service their patient's experience in obtaining dental care in a professional atmosphere while providing comprehensive and general specialty services in a private practice setting. Their patients receive quality dental care from accomplished NSU faculty who are educating the next generation of dentists and specialists.

  • The Eye Care Institute will provide the latest information on vision correction, high-quality diagnosis, and management of eye conditions. Vision screenings will be available for children.

  • Parents and caregivers will be educated on the importance of getting children vaccinated and learn about the benefits of vaccinations by the Academy of Student Pharmacists.

​

  • Using “MyPlate” as a game, the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists will teach children about "Healthy Helpings." Using pictures and real versions of the foods, visitors will learn about fruits, grains, vegetables, protein, and dairy that fit each category.

​

  • The College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists will help children make and decorate their own stress balls. Stress balls are known to help with grip strengthening, as well as help kids stay calm and focus.

​

  • Every year, thousands of children are rushed to the emergency room after finding and ingesting medication, or after being given the incorrect dose. The Industry Pharmacists Organization will educate parents and children on the importance of safe medication use. Children will then complete a brief quiz and receive a small prize upon completion.

​

  • Health/anatomy-related Poke-A-Pumpkin game by Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Inc. The activity is a Halloween-themed game where children can pick a pumpkin on the board with an age appropriate (child friendly) body part. The pharmacy students will discuss first aid procedures if that specific body part is injured (cut, scrape, bruise).

  • National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA)As Cold & Flu season approaches, the National Community Pharmacists Association will provide education on flu shots and personal hygiene (hand washing, covering your nose and mouth when sneezing and coughing.). They will provide coloring pages related to these topics.

​

  • Accidents can happen and it’s best to be prepared. Phi Delta Chi, Beta Lambda Chapter (PDC) presents "First Aid 101." They'll provide tips, facts, and safety advice on how to best handle accidents. Children will get a chance to put their knowledge into action through activities, as well as make their own first aid kits with alcohol swabs, band-aids, gauze, gloves, and more.

  • In their version of "Painting with a Twist," Phi Lambda Sigma will provide children with a paintbrush, canvas, watercolors, and a paint kit to broaden their creativity and tune their fine motor skills.

​

  • Children will have the opportunity to learn about pharmacy related items such as medication bottles, syringes, etc. through painting medical-themed cartoons using syringes prefilled with colored paint by students of the Student College of Clinical Pharmacy. Participants will win a prize and keep their artwork.

  • Children's mental health and well-being will be covered by the Psychology Services Center. There will be pamphlets and giveaways. Through fun interactive games, they'll engage the children.

  • Information about Area Health Education Center’s Tobacco Cessation Program will be distributed. In particular, how they offer free live and virtual group tobacco-cessation support classes as well as free nicotine replacement therapy.

​

  • The Department of Nutrition will present nutrition and exercise information with their students. Through fun and educational activities, this group will engage children and caregivers. 

​

  • The Sports Medicine Clinic will teach visitors how to eat healthy and exercise. Children and their caregivers will learn how to listen to their hearts before and after exercise. Using a FitBall, this group will offer a fun physical activity game.

  • The Department of Health and Human Performance will present nutrition and exercise information with their students. Through fun and educational activities, this group will engage children and caregivers. 

​

  • The Department of Physical Therapy students will provide caregivers with educational information and engage children through interactive activities. Children can participate in age-appropriate activities, like ball tossing and balance games, while caregivers will learn about what is considered normal physical development in their children.

​

  • The Department of Speech-Language Pathology will be presenting and distributing information about speech, hearing, language, and human communication. They will also be offering hearing screenings for children.

​

  • The Student Academy of Audiology will present information on noise and hearing loss. They will have video otoscopy, earplugs, and coloring pages.

NSU Health - Health Care Clinics

  • Information about Area Health Education Center’s Tobacco Cessation Program will be distributed. In particular, how they offer free live and virtual group tobacco-cessation support classes as well as free nicotine replacement therapy.

  • The Brief Therapy Institute and students from the Department of Couple and Family Therapy will facilitate family interactions through the development of crafting a family tree. They will assist in the making of jeweled crowns at their arts and craft station.  

​

  • The Eye Care Institute will provide the latest information on vision correction, high-quality diagnosis, and management of eye conditions. Vision screenings will be available for children.
